3 Romantic cities to buy a home in…

With all the excitement of the Royal Wedding and romance most definitely in the air, we wanted to show you the three most romantic European cities to buy a home. Take a peek at these beautiful places and their gorgeous homes.

The regional capital of Tuscany – an area famous for its beautiful landscape, authentic rich cuisine and artistic legacy, Florence is often considered as one of Europe’s prettiest cities. Florence’s romance is achieved by its enormity of stunning masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture that define the city’s appearance and history. Cobbled streets packed with medieval chapels, palaces, fresco churches and striking basilicas make it a perfect location for wandering through aimlessly, taking in all the beauty and tranquillity.

As a location to live, Florence has a great lifestyle. It’s not an enormous city which prevents it from being too chaotic and preserves its established characteristics. While it is unsurprisingly a very popular tourist spot, it doesn’t succumb to typical tourist pitfalls but benefits from the accompanying perks such as an abundance of great restaurants, shopping opportunities, and efficient transport links.

Average prices rose 2% in 2016, yet prime prices fell by 2% which was still a lower rate than the rest of Italy. Sales also increased by 16%, with several areas that are particularly off the tourist route being in high demand among international buyers. In the surrounding areas of Florence there are several popular hamlets with traditional villas and country houses that offer spectacular scenic views and come with more space.

For €530,000 you can purchase a 2 bed apartment with a terrace, in a quiet street in the historic Duomo area in the heart of Florence. See this property currently listed.

The City of Love o la Ville de ‘amour would be impossible to leave off our list of the most romantic cities to buy a home for obvious reasons. Paris is one of Europe’s most visited cities and one of the best places to enjoy some of the best food, culture, and art in the world. Popular romantic activities include visiting Paris’ historic landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Champs Élysées, walking along or taking a river trip down the Seine and of course, ascending Paris’ most famous building and enjoying a meal at the 58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant.

Paris has been compared to a smaller more compact London, better designed for people to inhabit and with arguably a better quality of life with less hustle and bustle but equally stunning. Furthermore, although like London there’s a huge tourist element to the city, Paris has a defined character with a very vibrant culture that’s prevalent everywhere, but you may have to be a bit of a Francophile to always enjoy it.

Buying in Paris has however become more and more expensive. Average property prices have increased to over €9,000 per square metre, with prices across all of Paris’ 20 arrondissements rising in 2017 at an average rate of 8%. Sales have also increased by 7% within the last year, and many predict that this will continue to rise in the build-up to Paris’ hosting of the 2024 Olympics.

For €750,000 you can purchase a 2 bedroom fully serviced penthouse that has access to a swimming pool and underground parking in the 15th Arrondissement, within easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. See this one currently listed

For €1,470,000 you can purchase a 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony and cellar in a much sought after area of Saint Honoré Street, next to shops, the Tuileries Gardens, the Louvre and Place Vendome. See this one currently listed

For €1,160,000 you can purchase a 4 bedroom 19th century townhouse split over 3 levels in Suresnes Park du Chateau – just outside of Paris if you’re looking for quieter surroundings and want somewhere to add your personal touch. See this one currently listed
